Kara and Marcus Caudill
Kara and Marcus Caudillhave been playing and singing together all of their adult life. As founding members of the acoustic group Onyx, they toured the mid-Atlantic states in the mid to late 1970's. A move to the Pacific Northwest began their duo career. When the family grew with the addition of three children, it was only natural that the band would grow, and Fleeting Moment was formed in 1995 as Lucas, Ashleigh and Jessica became part of the family musical tradition. In 2006, Kara and Marcus began the bluegrass band Alternate Route with Dave and Zoe Werden. Throughout all of this time, the couple has continued to hone their duo sound and skills, with harmonies and musical arrangements that attest to their 30+ year partnership.
Kara grew up in a house filled with music, from the "hill songs" of Kentucky and West Virginia, to the big band music of the 40's, to the traditional hymns the family shared on Sunday mornings. She was singing in the church choir by age 7, played piano and flute at school, and picked up the guitar as a teen. With a wide range of musical influences, Kara enjoys and plays many different styles of music. Her primary focus these days is good acoustic guitar music, from blues to bluegrass, classic country to cowboy, and roots to country rock.
Marcus is a lover of most music, but is most fond of bluegrass, classic country, and southern rock. Marcus picked up the guitar in his mid-teens, and has rarely put it down until he started playing mandolin in the mid-1990's. Now he only puts one down to pick the other up!
The couple have a number of recording to their credit, including three CDs recorded with Fleeting Moment, cuts on three Colorado Bluegrass Music Society compilations, two Mountain Harvest Festival Samplers, as well as guest appearances on several recordings. Look for a duo project soon!
